Why We Run Sabian FRX Cymbals

In intimate venues, wedding marquees, and smaller rooms, acoustic cymbals are frequently the loudest sound in the building—overwhelming the space, fatiguing the audience, and brutally masking lead vocals. We solve this at the source with our rare in-house collection of Sabian FRX (Frequency Reduced) pro cast B20 bronze.

Cymbals that Compliment, not Dominate

In compact venues, standard cymbals can dominate the mix, even un-amplified. The Sabian FRX series is not a low-volume cymbal; it is a pro-level, extra-thin cast B20 bronze cymbal that works by cutting specific frequencies (2kHz–6kHz) that create the perception of excessive volume. Remove those frequencies, and the cymbals sit effortlessly in the mix while the drummer plays with full natural attack.

HYBRID MESH E-KIT

Real Bronze Touch for Noise Limited Venues

Electronic rubber cymbal pads feel dead, trigger awkwardly, and break stage immersion. Pairing authentic Sabian FRX cast B20 bronze with our Jobeky mesh-head acoustic shells creates the ultimate low-stage-volume rig—offering authentic stick response while keeping acoustic spill low enough to satisfy sensitive venue noise limits. Real cymbals paired with a mesh and trigger equipped acoustic kit also look authentic on stage.

Our Sabian FRX Stock

Hand-selected, professional cast B20 bronze available with all Live Mix drum kits. Now discontinued and unmatched by any current manufacturer:

CRASHES16″ · 17″ · 18″

Extra-thin cast B20 bronze with micro-perforated frequency filtering. Explosive attack with quick, silky decay that clears out instantly so vocals and guitars stay pristine.

RIDES20″ · 21″

Articulate stick ping and clean, cutting bell projection with a controlled acoustic wash that leaves plenty of room for bass frequencies and vocals to breathe.

HI-HATS14″ · 15″

Crisp, defined foot chick with articulate stick response—smooth, controlled sizzle when open without splashing harsh high frequencies across vocal mics.

DISCONTINUED & IRREPLACEABLE

Because Sabian FRX cymbals are rare, out of production, and impossible to repair once damaged, any cymbal cracked during a booking must be paid for in full at list replacement price (£450 crash / £650 ride / £650 hi-hat pair). See our Terms & Conditions for full hire care policies.

Studio-Grade Acoustics & Silent Valve Power

Live acoustic and electric guitars are notorious for compromising sound at live events—whether it is the thin, plastic quack of standard acoustic pickups or the intrusive hiss of vintage-spec valve amps. We solve both with our solid mahogany Martin 000-15 (fitted with an internal LR Baggs Lyric studio microphone) and our Fender '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb, blueprinted bySurrey Amps for near-silent idle operation and authentic optical tremolo.

INTERNAL STUDIO MICROPHONE

Martin 000-15: Studio Realism on Stage

Most plugged-in acoustic guitars sound harsh, thin, and brittle because standard pickups produce an artificial, plastic attack. We bypass pickups entirely: our Martin 000-15 is fitted with an LR Baggs Lyric internal studio microphone nestled right beneath the soundboard. It captures the authentic warmth, body, and wood resonance of the instrument, delivering a natural acoustic tone without boominess.

SURREY AMPS BLUEPRINTED

'68 Deluxe Reverb: Silent Chime & Authentic "Roach"

Celebrated for pure 22W 6V6 valve chime and spring reverb, factory '68 reissues unfortunately suffer from loud idle hiss and hum, while European export models were fitted with a clumsy, ticking solid-state tremolo. UK tube specialists Surrey Amps comprehensively blueprinted our amplifier—re-routing lead dress and shielding high-gain paths to make it near-silent when idling on stage, and gutting the artificial EU circuit to reinstall an authentic vintage optical "roach" for lush, three-dimensional vibrato with zero clock ticking.

How Backline with Live Mix Works

The difference between stressful dry-hire rentals and an on-site engineer:

01

Delivered in One Van

Instruments and backline arrive in the same van as the PA system. No couriers, no warehouse pickups, and no security deposit holds.

02

Tuned, Set Up & Maintained

No battered dry-hire gear. Drum kits are tuned, guitars are properly set up with spot-on intonation, neck relief and action.

03

Zero Teardown Friction

When the final set ends, our engineer strikes and loads all company backline and instruments along with the PA, leaving the performers to head home!
